Lasagna Night at Lake Cavanaugh

My cousin, Travis Lawton, is a professional photographer.

While we were in Washington State to meet his 6 month old daughter Lilah,
he snapped some photos.  

I wanted to impress my family a bit with
some things I learned in culinary school.  I ended up going to 
an old family stand by...my mother's lasagna!
Since we had lots of people, I decided to make 1 by her
exact recipe, and the other one veggie and a bit healthier.















Father fed an even bigger flock!
No complaints, but we had LOTS of veggie
left over!

VIDEO of me throwing pizza dough

I've already blogged about this meal so I wont bore you, but I made Jamie Oliver's, from scratch, pizza recipe (dough and sauce) again tonight. So I could make a blog entry I had Dutchie take this video.  We did it twice for the obvious fact that I wanted close ups....We DO own a video production company, in case you forgot. This is just me tossing the dough and not creating the whole pizza. Let me know what you think of the video.  Is it better than photos? Dang the pizzas were good. Made one pepperoni (turkey pepperoni), one cheese and garlic (by far the best one) and the third was half cheese and half turkey pepp!

What have my efforts paid off with so far in the garden....

I look forward to writing about the meals that these will one day become.  I never had a green thumb and  would regularly kill plants.  Watching some home and garden television, trial and error, lots of patience and hard work, and I think I'm finally starting to have a "yield" out of my garden.  Mainly just a meal or two, here and there, along with several supplemental meal roles per plant.  I'm set on herbs, will be rolling in peaches, and hope to get enough figs to enjoy a few and make some preserves. watercress Basil  chives  dill blackberries  figs  cilantro  grapes  Green Beans  jalapenos  lavender  mint  oregano  peaches  raspberries  sage  squash blossom  squash   thyme  heirloom tomatos

Herbed Scallops with Bacon and Shallots

so here's what you missed so far.... Ever notice that its hard to leave one of those high end grocery stores with less than a $150 bill? I was at Central Market to get some good meats/fish...boy did I. Huge chunks of salmon, lump crab meat and a whole sirloin, then we made the mistake of looking at other stuff, and next thing you know..... I made Cousin Mike's Zesty Sauce, for the salmon, but thats a whole nuther post. This sauce is an ancient family recipe that no one seems to know where it came from, but it seems Cousin Mike had something to do with it.  We love it on steaks or salmon!! Another trip to Central Market to find some large scallops...they did not dissappoint.  Next thing I know, I have $24 worth of beautiful scallops.  I skip over to the produce dept and baby bok choy and a shallot got my name written all over them.
